Can someone confirm the basis on which storage is charged? Is it the size of the image or the amount of space actually used?

Hi Learza, and thanks for your interest.
The storage is currently charged on a Gb/month usage basis, rather than the amount allocated.

The storage is currently charged on a Gb/month usage basis, rather than the amount allocated.
Would you expand on that, please, because I don't yet understand the model?
Does this mean that we should start with a notional (say) 2 GB disk and then expand it (if, indeed, that is possible) as the data files increase, or should we start with an 80 GB disk whose empty spaces are ignored in the calculation? It sounds like the former!

Hi,
Unused space is not charged for, so if you were to have a 20GB disk (the default size we start at) but were only using 2GB of space then you would only be charged for 2GB of space, this would be charged every time the equivalent of 1GB had been used for a month so you would be charged for 1GB/month (£0.30) every 15 days.
It is possible to resize disks at present, contact your account manager and they can arrange this for you, we plan to release new functionality in March that amongst other things will allow you to upgrade disk sizes with just a reboot.
I hope that makes things clearer for you
Regards
James
